Have you ever asked the following questions: What is a translation? Why are translations of the scriptures necessary? What were the original languages in which the scriptures were written? How can I know if the translation I use is accurate? What are the criteria for determining accuracy in translations of the scriptures? Is there a perfect translation of the Bible? Is the King James Version the only acceptable translation for use in preaching, teaching, and Bible study? Is mistranslation in one or more parts of a Bible a legitimate basis for rejecting the whole?

These are some of the questions that are answered in A Perspective on Bible Translations. The author, Ron Daly, has not hesitated to delve into a discussion of some of the controversial areas of Bible translation and application, yet he has attempted to do so in a non-technical way. His purpose has been to write a book that discusses some of the key issues that underlie the translation process and the selection of translations for general use. He hopes this book will serve the people who do not have the necessary time to study the more technical volumes that are available, but who nevertheless are seeking answers to fundamental questions.
